Good-By to 2009As this year comes to an end many of us are without jobs, have lost our homes, defaulted on our mortgage, credit card debt and see Washington only assisting big banks, big businesses and themselves. It’s easy to understand and accept why so many of us enter the New Year with trepidation, not anticipation; with doubt instead of hope, with mistrust instead of trust and certainly with no more faith in our elected officials at all levels. Even those of us whom have not yet lost what we’ve worked so hard for have to some extent been shaken by the economic situation of the times. Most retirement plans have lost a minimum of about 40% and many who would have retired are either still working or now looking for jobs. It’s probably sad that we should turn to God when times are tough when we didn’t reach out to him in good times; however, HE promised to never leave us or forsake us. Just prior to his death Moses gave some last words of encouragement to the nation of Israel in Deuteronomy 31.6: “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them, for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”. Though some could possibly make the argument that the scripture applies only to the Hebrews of the Old Testament; we are reminded in Hebrews 13.5: “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have; for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” As we are faithful to seek first the kingdom of God, then He will be faithful to meet our every need. Let us enter the New Year with God in our thoughts, in our hearts and with the gift of anticipating what He has in store for us.

Time The dictionary says that time is a person’s experience on a particuliar occasion or a rythm as given by a division into parts of equal time, or the period of time a prisoner is imprisoned. But I believe it is more than that. I believe time is our friend and our enemy and something we cannot change. Let’s face it, time is worth so many things, it’s also probably the most amazing thing humans have ever seen. I said to my mother once, if we could own time, it would be more expensive than a house and two cars and everything in th house and cars all put together. But for one, I think we should all be thankful for time. Because if you look at it, it is something so beautiful. Right now I’m looking at the clock, trying to look for an inspiration, but I should take my time because the time will come.—————————————————————————-Those words were exactly what she wrote. Pretty good for an 8 year old. I was really impressed and it almost made me cry. When we think we are not doing a good job as a homeschool teacher, our children go and do something that totally knock our socks off and show us we are not doing such a bad job afterall.
